Wednesday 15 August: ELIZABETH KARLSEN: IN CONVERSATION at Film4’s Behind the Screen

We’re thrilled to announce our intimate Behind the Screen talk with legendary producer Elizabeth Karlsen.

This in-depth and illuminating session will explore a film-making career that ranges from Elizabeth’s time with pioneering Palace Pictures in the late 80s, when British cinema was struggling to make an international impact, through landmark successes such as The Crying GameLittle Voice and Made in Dagenham, and on up to recent releases Their Finest and On Chesil Beach. Special attention will be given to Elizabeth’s ‘passion’ project Carol, directed by Todd Haynes, a film that stands as testament to just how dedicated a producer must be to pursue an artistic dream – and to realise it. Elizabeth will be in conversation with our very own Beth Webb. Find out more about Elizabeth Karlsen’s incredible career here.

Head to the Great Arch Hall entrance for 18.30 to receive your complimentary dream-themed cocktail from the Grey Goose pop-up bar, accessed via Victoria Embankment. Talks start at 19.00 and are approximately an hour.

For the ultimate experience, you can purchase tickets to the main film screenings in addition to your Behind the Screen ticket (which gives access to Behind the Screen events only). In conjunction with a purchased ticket to Film4 Summer Screen, your Behind the Screen ticket gives you access to a reserved space in the courtyard where you can collect a second complimentary Grey Goose cocktail from the East Wing Bar.
