3 June: Louise Osmond

We trust you remember Osmond from last year’s magnificent and touching doc Dark Horse which won the Audience Award at Sundance 2015 and BIFA for Best Documentary. And rightly so, Dark Horse is a beautiful, tear-jerking story of how a Welsh community backed a hopeless horse only to see it come up trumps. Louie’s compassionate and thoughtful filmmaking is back with a timely new doc on our beloved director Ken Loach.

Versus: The Life And Films Of Ken Loach (out today), comes as Loach basks in the glory of his Cannes Palme d’Or win for I, Daniel Blake. Much to the approval of Loach’s long-time producer Rebecca O’Brien, who calls Osmond ‘a wonderful, observational filmmaker’ , Osmond stepped in to direct Versus when Ken’s son, Jim Loach, dropped the project for being too close to home. The film charts the graft and guts of his 50 year documentarian career as he celebrates his 80th birthday and if you ask Time Out, is an ‘an insightful, surprising and moving portrait of a quiet man with a will of steel’.

Louise Osmond will be at the BFI this Sun 6th in Q&A at her screening of Versus. Go relish Louise’s film and celebrate the cherished work of Ken Loach. Book Now.
