20 November – A United Kingdom – Preview & Q&A

united kingdom

From director Amma Asante (Belle), starring David Oyelowo (Selma) and Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) and set against the breath-taking backdrops of the African savannah and period London, A UNITED KINGDOM celebrates the inspiring real-life relationship between Seretse Khama, King of Bechuanaland (modern Botswana), and Ruth Williams, the London office worker he married in 1948 in the face of fierce opposition from their families and the British and South African governments. This is the story of a ground-breaking love.

Birds Eye View and Bechdel Test Fest are proud to present a special preview of this moving true story on Sunday 20th November at the picturesque Picturehouse Central 2pm.  Based on the book COLOUR BAR: THE TRIUMPH OF SERETSE, the author Susan Williams will take part in a lightning talk & Q&A along with Mia Bays from Birds Eye View and Corrina Antrobus from Bechdel Test Fest. Be one of the first to watch Amma Asante’s brand new film with us this Sunday!

Special rate for Picturehouse Central! Members, Retired & Students just £10. £13 otherwise.
